Kolkata is now bustling with art activities. New art galleries are constantly coming into being with new promise and renewed agenda. Kanvas Art Gallery established in May 2007 is not just a new entrant in this field. Since the beginning it has opted for a different path. Kanvas does not like to deal with the big names of the art field only. Its prime motto is to encourage the new talents, who have promise and power of creativity and original way of thinking and expressing, but are constantly struggling to find a proper footing. Kanvas takes the pleasure of projecting these new talents. In most of the shows it has organized since beginning it has been committed to this ideal. Searching for new talents has been and will be its motto.

The gallery also likes to encourage the ordinary cultured people towards appreciating art and induce them towards collecting art objects. In near future it will take up an agenda to bring the artists and common spectators in a closer tie to encourage in them a love for art.
